What is Herbal Medicine?

Herbal medicine, or Herbalism, is using plant material to make what are known as remedies. Think back to the strong herbal teas your grandmother made you when you were feeling under the weather, or the Chinese herbs used alongside acupuncture. Things haven't changed much in the herbal world, except maybe we can make them tastier!  

     There are many forms of herbal medicines that can be recommended to you: 

  • Fluid Extracts (tinctures): alcohol or vinegar extractions

  • Tablets: think of your multivitamin tablet, but one that includes herbs

  • Chinese Tea Pills: a special Chinese process used to make strong tea decoctions into small, bb sized pills.

  • Herbal Tea: special formulations, made just for you, to sip on through the day!

  • Essential Oils (aromatherapy), powders/pastes, food therapy, flower essences, liniments, oils, salves 

 

Why use Herbs?

Clients come with their own reasons for using herbs, but the most common are

  • to avoid harmful chemicals

  • they're effective 

  • they're safe

  • they connect you to the Earth

  • properly used, no side effects

  • little to no drug interactions

 

What do herbs help with?

People use herbs for many reasons. Here are some of the most common:

  • Digestive Issues

  • Sleep

  • Headaches and Migraines 

  • Menstrual Cycle Disorders

  • Aches/Pains

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Skin Irritations

  • Biocircadian Rhythm Correction

Come on in! We'll sit down and talk about what's on your mind. Getting to know all about you is the best way I can help! 

     I'll be asking some personal and detailed questions to supplement the intake forms that you'll either bring with you, or send in prior to your session. This way, you won't have to sit and wait, and I can get your herbs together faster!

What do I do Now?

So you want to try herbs, but which

session do you book, the 

Simple Herbal Consultation, or the 

Complex Herbal Consultation?

First know, you don't have to make this

decision on your own! You can always

e-mail me with your questions. 

     The Simple Herbal Consultation is a

20 minute intake for a simple health

concern. This doesn't mean the concern

doesn't matter, it just doesn't need an

hour to discuss! This can be about

headaches, a cold, seasonal allergies, sleep issues, and acute illnesses. Please note that if your health intake form is  more complex, a recommendation will be made for you to switch to a Complex Herbal Consultation. 

     The Complex Herbal Consultation is an hour long intake for either multiple concerns or very complex concerns. These can include "anxiety induced headaches and insomnia", heart disease, biocircadian rhythm correction, etc.

     Each session type has potential to meet your needs, make sure to read each option carefully before booking a session. You can also schedule a phone consultation under the Book Online Tab.
